Widmer End Village Design Statement

In 2004 Hughenden Parish Council published its Parish Plan after a wide-ranging questionnaire which indicated that the beauty of our local area is the factor most valued by residents.  As a result, the Parish Council agreed an action plan to prepare Village Design Statements for each ward in Hughenden Parish.

There are increasing pressures for new housing development in our district which, if not controlled, could have unfortunate consequences for our rural community.  Change is inevitable but a Village Design Statement can help to manage that change by showing how a community wants its own neighbourhood to develop.

The Village Design Statement will:
  • Describe the character of the villages by outlining the history of their development, describing the landscape setting and reviewing the buildings, the spaces in between and the network of roads and paths.
  • Try to make that character count in new development by setting out design guidelines for new buildings and extensions, if any.
The Residents Association is publishing its questionnaire which will go out with the next Widmer End News to all houses. The results of this questionnaire will form our Village Design Statement. The deadline for this document to be sent to the govt has been brought forward to Nov 2006. so we are now in a great rush to get ours in.

We will try and put the questionnaire on this website and allow people to complete it there? The results of these will then be added to the hand written responces.

To contact the Widmer End Resident Association please email Trevor trevor@widmerend.co.uk or post a comment in our Forum http://www.widmerend.co.uk/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?64

manager.gifOur village Cricket Club "Widmer End St Margarets" is about to start a new season.

They play on the recreation ground behind our village hall where they have our small pavilion with good changing rooms and showers. They do not have a bar as the Royal Standard is only over the road.

The team runs two Saturday sides in the Kookaburra Mid Bucks League and one Sunday side playing friendly games. Unfortunately we do not have a colts side at present

New players are always welcome so please contact the Team Captain if you are interested.
